The Children's hospital has a 28 bed general pediatric ward and an 11 bed pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) that is staffed by pediatric nurses who are specifically trained to care for the pediatric patient population.
There are private rooms as well as double occupancy rooms available. Co-habilitation is encouraged between the pediatric patient and at least one parent. Each room has a chair that converts into a bed.
If the child is in a private room, both parents are allowed to stay overnight. If the child is in a double occupancy room, due to space limitations, one parent is allowed to stay in the room overnight. There is a waiting room located at the end of the hall of the pediatric ward where the other parent may stay and the parents may switch off during the course of the night.
Ronald McDonald House
We have a Ronald McDonald House located across the street from the hospital which parents are also encouraged to utilize. Payment is based on a sliding scale fee schedule and the family's ability to pay. You can contact the Ronald McDonald House directly at 573-443-7666 for questions.
